Artist Statement: I started the Inktober challenge as a way to tackle some of the random ideas I had stored away & then it became a good reason to get back to drawing if I was in a lull. I oscillate between tedious prep work and free drawing, depending on the idea at hand & the tunes.

Marco Zavala is an artist by heart, which has been a difficult thing admit to himself. He’s been part of galleries at the Bath House Cultural Center in Dallas and the Arlington Museum of Art and has published anatomical illustrations for a sketching book. He’s a member of the Spiderweb Salon collective based in Denton, Texas. If you catch him in the right mood, he’ll draw silly things well. Find him @rrrancho_pancho on Instagram.
